You can spend months studying for the FIFA agent exam and never get the chance to sit the exam. That may sound surprising to you. However, FIFA often rejects applications before the exam even starts. A quick note before we start. At the time of writing, FIFA has not confirmed the 2027 application details. The rules below come from the current FIFA Football Agent Regulations (FFAR), and FIFA can amend them between cycles.

Who Can Take the FIFA Agent Exam? How the Application Works

FIFA decides your FIFA Agent Exam 2027 eligibility before the exam happens. You apply through the FIFA Agent Platform, and FIFA checks you against the eligibility requirements. Only if you pass that check does FIFA invite you to sit the exam. The application window lasts 45 days, and FIFA runs one exam cycle per year. A rejected application can therefore cost you a full year.

What Disqualifies You from FIFA 2027 Agent Exam

Article 5 of the FFAR sets the FIFA agent exam requirements on eligibility. These are the rules that trip people up:

• Certain criminal convictions. FIFA looks at convictions linked to organised crime, drug trafficking, corruption, bribery, money laundering, tax evasion, fraud, match manipulation, misappropriation of funds, sexual abuse and violent crimes, among other matters. • False or incomplete answers. Your application must contain no false, misleading, or incomplete statements. Leaving something out counts, so disclose everything the form asks for.

• Acting as an agent without a licence. If you performed agent services without the required licence in the 24 months before you apply, you fail the check. If you already help players with moves informally, stop now.

• Bankruptcy. Being declared bankrupt or holding a key role in a business that went bankrupt or into liquidation within five years of your application can rule you out.

• Betting interests. Holding an interest in a sports betting company in the 12 months before you apply counts against you.

• Working inside football. You cannot be an official or employee of FIFA, a confederation, a member association, a league, or a club. This hits club staff and federation workers who want to switch careers. You must be out of those roles when you apply.

• Owning a stake in a club, academy, or league. Plenty of aspiring agents in Africa run or co-own academies. Under Article 5, you cannot hold an interest in a club, academy, or league, either personally or through your agency.

FIFA Agent Exam 2027 Eligibility: What You Can Fix Before You Apply

Several of these rules work on a look-back period, so you can plan around them. If you hold a betting interest, exit it now so the full 12 months pass before you submit. If you sit on a club board or work for a federation, map out your exit well ahead of time. Treat FIFA Agent Exam 2027 eligibility like a project with a deadline.

Eligibility also does not stop once you pass. A licensed agent must keep meeting these requirements, and falling short later puts the licence at risk.
