The 2026 FIFA Agent Exam Autopsy: Why So Many Failed And How To Guarantee Pass In 2027 Exam.

The results for the April and May 2026 FIFA Agent Exam were officially released on June 4. If you were one of the thousands of candidates who logged into the FIFA Agent Platform only to see a license application rejected, you are not alone.  Since the introduction of Victvs for pre-exam verification the pass rate for the FIFA Agent Exam has hovered around a brutal 19 to 20 percent. The 2026 FIFA agent exam pass rate was not different.

This outcome prompted us at BallBusiness to invest the past three weeks in reviewing missed questions and debriefing with 2026 applicants, to have a clearer picture of where things went wrong. What follows is what we call the 2026 FIFA Agent Exam Autopsy: what went wrong for so many, and what must change for success in the 2027 FIFA Agent Exam.

What You Must Know Ahead Of The 2027 FIFA Agent Exam.

I. The “Open-Book” Trap

The biggest misconception in 2026 was about the exam format itself. Many candidates believed that because the exam is open-book, using the digital study materials interface, they could rely on the Ctrl+F search function to locate answers and keywords as they went. In reality, it was different.

Many candidates found that the keyword approach did not work, because the wording in the questions rarely matched the wording in the materials.

One candidate put it plainly;

“I had 7 to 8 questions with very tricky, hard and long formulations, not easy to search in the materials as the wording was different.”

Another described a similar frustration from a different angle:

“The questions weren’t too difficult. What made it harder for me was that I couldn’t use copy and paste in the materials to search for keywords.”

The most damaging consequence of this, however, was not the failed searches. It was the time they consumed. Candidates who depended on searching for each question found themselves running out of time before they could finish.

As one candidate recalled:

“Time went by very quickly. In the last minute, I still had two unanswered questions, so I had to answer them very quickly without searching or checking.”

The exam allows 60 minutes to answer the 20 questions, which feature both simple and complex scenario-based questions. That equates to exactly three minutes per question. Before you start searching for each question, the time has already run out.

For candidates writing the 2027 FIFA agent exam, success in it requires deep familiarity with the architecture of the core topics. One must know, without hesitation, where eligibility requirements reside in the FIFA Football Agent Regulations, where protections for minors and training compensation mechanisms sit within the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, and be able to provide correct answers to some questions without having to consult the material for every question.  This mastery turns the open-book format from a trap into a strategic advantage.

II. Failure to Translate Properly Scenarios

The RSTP scenario section is where candidates suffered most visibly. This year, the exam placed heavy emphasis on scenario questions involving the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players and the FIFA Clearing House. Candidates who relied only on past questions and topics memorization, without understanding the context, were caught off guard.

FIFA did not simply ask what a third party is, when a solidarity contribution is payable, or what a bridge transfer is. Instead, they might ask which of the following elements are generally required for a situation to be considered a bridge transfer under the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, with options such as the player does not play or seldom plays. In this context, the standard definition of bridge transfer proved useless. The only thing that mattered was the ability to understand the rationale behind the principle of Bridge transfer and to apply it under intense time pressure. This is what surface or passive reading never builds.

Likewise, knowing the definition of solidarity contribution and applying it correctly inside a scenario question are two entirely different things, and the exam is designed to test only the latter. Many students arrived knowing the definition and still missed the scenario question on it. That gap between knowing and applying is the difference between scoring 14 and failing, and scoring 15 and passing.

III. The Multiple Answers Trap

Unlike previous years, the 2026 FIFA Agent Exam did not expressly state: “select one or more answers” or to “select one.” Instead, a question would be presented, and candidates were expected to know on their own whether only one, or two, or three, or all four options were correct. Many candidates missed out on obtaining their licence because they selected only three options in questions where all four options were correct.

The exam is all-or-nothing, meaning a candidate must select every correct answer to get the one mark alloted to the question. For further reading on the factors that affected the 2026 FIFA agent exam pass rate read the Study Mistakes That Cause Most FIFA Agent Exam Failures
